AN IDEA BEGINS WITH A SPARK

As an educator for high school and college, our founder scoured the best educational institutions in the U.S. but couldn’t find a school that combined yoga, leadership and the freshest innovations in diversity, inclusion and wellness. We decided to create exactly what we were looking for and the idea for Ignite was born.

2001

HIMALAYAS BRING PURPOSE

We’ve traveled the Himalayas to deepen our practice and practiced with yogis who had just emerged from caves to month-long retreats in silence and in-depth courses with the Dalai Lama and Thich Nhat Hanh. All of this deep, authentic training formed the basis for Ignite’s system of yoga and wellness. 

2007

IGNITE OPENS ITS DOORS

Ignite opens doors in Orlando and Full trainings in 200 hour, 300 hour and an Online Safe Space Inclusive Yoga Mastermind and Honor Yoga courses begin.

2015

YOGA FOR EVERYONE

Our system of inclusive yoga and wellness is shared across the United States at various yoga events like Hawaii Yoga Festival, Accessible Yoga Training and Omega Center.

2017

COMMUNITY HEALING TEACHERS

Our students have become teachers and graduates are leading the way! These amazing teachers are sharing the key foundations of yoga far and wide through the world.

ABOUT THE

DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

Susanna Barkataki is a teacher, coach, inclusivity promoter and yoga culture advocate. She helps yoga teachers, studios, nonprofits and businesses become leaders in equity, diversity and yogic values so they can embody thriving yoga leadership with integrity and confidence. She is the Founder of Education for Ignite | Yoga and Wellness Institute and author of the bestselling book and Embrace Yoga's Roots: Courageous Ways to Deepen Your Yoga Practice. She has an Honors degree from UC Berkeley, an M.Ed., is E-RYT 500 Teacher as well as an Ayurvedic practitioner. She is also honored to have studied with her family and Masters in India and the United States in the Hatha Yoga tradition. Susanna loves to support students in deepening their practice and becoming leaders in yoga and wellness.
